Knit and Crochet Social – a crafty get together in a social setting.
‘To make is to have a sense of yourself, a personal dignity which you can’t get from consuming’ – Andrew Marr, A Short Book About Drawing
Crafting in any form is a tool for accessing a deep sense of calm, a form of self-soothing. It is a powerful way to alleviate the weight of everyday anxiety that so many of us carry with us.
The repetitive motions of knit and crochet have a wonderfully meditative effect on the brain, while at the same time engaging the curiosity in the joyous creativity of making. We will aim to get into a flow state…
This isn’t a formal workshop, it’s a meet up, a space to come and craft, but with no obligation to chat or share if you don’t want to. In my experience makers are a friendly, chatty, welcoming and non-judgy bunch, so it will be a safe and nurturing space (hopefully). If you need some guidance on a project you’re stuck on I can help, but you may be the one helping someone else or introducing them to a whole new craft.
I am a predominantly a knitter and crocheter, but I also love embroidery, weaving and a bit of punch needle. I will be bringing my current project (whether it be my current design or a shiny new one) with me, so bring whatever you like.
Knit and Crochet Social will launch on Tuesday 11th November and then hopefully take place every 2nd Tuesday of the month at Signature Brew Blackhorse Road in Walthamstow, from 7 – 9pm. Bring your current project, or just yourself, and your curiosity!
